Manchester United: Premier League Champions 2008/2009
A very passive Manchester United has been crowned champions of England for the 18th time this afternoon, equalling Liverpool’s record, while Ryan Giggs (legend!) and Sir Alex have celebrated their personal 11th Premier League coronation (with may be more to come
). The match opposing United to Arsenal promised to be a difficult one for the Red Devils, and indeed, despite losing twice to United in the CL semi-finals, this Arsenal team was determined to spoil the party, as United were playing for a draw to win the Premier League title, while Arsene Wenger had revitalized his team’s moral and promised United a tough game before kick off.
Indeed the match ended 0-0, but Arsenal were the more active team on the field, and could have scored more than a couple of goals, but thankfully the back 4 and Van der Sar were keeping the game tight. United did not even get a shot on target, and were more concentrating on defending. Last time these 2 teams played Evra stated it was ‘Men against boys’, but today the boys seemed more to be United, with Arsenal buzzing around and controlling the game.
With the scousers playing tomorrow and now already 7pts between them, and 1 match remaining for all teams next week, United have been crowned today itself after the game since the scousers will not be able to surpass them in the league table even if they win their 2 games. But it’s also thanks to the pressure exerted by liverpool on Man Utd throughout this season which made the Red Devils give the best they had, even if today’s match was very boring…as a fact I nearly dozed off on my sofa
Now United have to start preparing on the CL finals in Rome, and for the last Premier League match vs. Hull next week, even if they lose it will not be important since that game is just a formality given the actual context, and it will not be a surprise to see the young ones like Macheda, Nani, Anderson, Foster and others start that game. The only blank point upto now is whether Tevez will remain at United next season or be off to a rival club, with already he has rejected a 40million pounds offer from Real Madrid, while Liverpool and City are monitoring him closely.
So till next time… Glory Glory Man Utd!!!
P.S You can watch some post match interviews and the trophy ceremony on Ulrik’s blog.

Well the scousers are trophyless despite having their best season ever…lol Am trying to imagine how their worst would be
, most of all I watched their match today, and despite winning 2-0 against poor WBA, a fight broke out at one point in defence between Carrager and Arbeloa, really had a nice laugh that time
seems they completely lost it
Lousy scousers will now stop bragging about being the “most decorated club in English football history”. Come on Manu
hehe!
no need to say, that’s a great day indeed for man utd fans!
