Man Utd 1 – Liverpool 4: Hats off to the scousers & race for title is back on track!

Yeah surely you’ll be shocked to hear this from a Man Utd fan, but I give all the applause to the Scousers for their 4-1 humiliation of Man Utd at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. This was may be the worst we’ve seen from United for a very very long time. Only one clear opportunity to score, that penalty from C.Ronaldo, and some freekicks from the same guy but not troubling Reina at all in the end, while liverpool controlled the pace of the game after they had equalized.

But this was not the final outcome  that one would think when the match started, United pressing Liverpool, but somewhat i could sense that the team was lacking creativity and confidence, and after scoring on a penalty , they just went asleep and Liverpool got back in the game, and a mistake from Vidic gifted a goal to Torres, and Evra gifted a penalty to Gerrard who scored. 1-2 at halftime, things could still go United’s way, but again they failed to impress, And when Vidic was sent off for a ‘Rugby tackle’ on gerrard, the hope for an equaliser was all but gone. A superb freekick from Aurelio and a late Dossena lob did the finishing job, & inflicted a big humiliation to the Red Devils.

So in the end, 4 chances for the scousers and 4 goals, and one chance from a penalty for United and a goal.

The title race is now back on for both Liverpool & Chelsea (won 1-0 vs ManCity yesterday), since they are both 4 pts adrift from United, who still has a game in hand though. Arsenal also got back in the Big Four after thrashing Blackburn 4-0 on Saturday night, but they are still far from the top 3.

My ratings (on 10) for United players would vary between 1 and 5, 5 for Ronaldo for scoring 1 and creating a couple of chances from setpieces, while for the scousers its from min 6 to 8. Van Der Sar (a 1  rating for him!) had hardly anything to do except picking four goals from the net, and Rooney, with all his ‘Love/Hate’ story for the scousers spent most of the match yelling at his teammates instead of trying to do something to get a goal, and looked disinterested throughout the game. Ferguson needs to review all his tactics (if he has more than 1!!) and get a better performance for the next matches, or else he can kiss goodbye to the trophy. Time also to get youngsters lile Gibson or Possebon or Tosic (only seen his Partizane perf on YouTube upto now!) in the midfield alongside Carrick or Scholes, coz for me Anderson is a complete waste of money and can only play in matches involving lower divison sides.

And above all Ferguson claimed that United were the best team out there!! Think he needs his specs changed or a visit to the psychiatrist!!

  1. hi bro

i know it is quite late for a comment.. You know how painful it is for some Manchester Fan to accept the score.. 4-1 . That a real humiliation and you know what is suprising on top of that . i have seen loads of Manu fans finding loads of ” nice and pleasant” excuses for that humiliation…

Btw bro .. as you know i am not a great football fan[Except for certain matches].. juste pour le plaisir du grand jeu.. I thinks you and all the others would participate in the following topic:” What makes You a good football fan for a particular team????Manu or liverpool or any team throughout the world”

  3. I am a united fan, and I have to say fergie was right. United gifted liverpool all four of their goals, none of them coming from any intricate passing move. I mean the first goal was just a school boy error from vidic that u can be sure wont happen again. and even when united were 2-1 down, they created better chances and just failed to take them on the day. The only thing i feel fergie did wrong was to leave out all three of berbatov, scholes and giggs. I think at least one of them should have started that game. On the whole, it was just ine of those days, but you cant fault the team for mistakes of vidic and evra.. who have been one of our top four players his season. i only hope we can draw liverpool in the champs league so we can put this right. we all know u cant beat a team four times in one season.. just remember arsenal and chelsea in 2003/2004!
