Manchester is still “Red”

An injury time winner by Scholes ensures Manchester United are still in the challenge for the title, while Manchester City will wait anxiously for the result of the match opposing Spurs to Chelsea later on as the 4th place may slip out of their hands after the fatal blow dealt by Scholes.

The game was a rather scrappy one, with Rooney again lined up despite not fully fit, while Berbaflop was on the bench. United did enough to deny City from attacking Van Der Sar’s goal too much, but on the other hand, despite having some opportunities, they could not convert. 0-0 at half time, the second half saw United drop back as City applied some pressure, and Bellamy had a glorious chance wasted as he went for glory himself while Tevez was waiting for the return ball. Berbatov, who came on for Rooney, then had a header glanced wide, while at the other end both Vidic and Fletcher came to Van Der Sar’s rescue as he completely misjudged the flight of the ball on a corner kick. The game looked to be ending with a draw until the 92nd minute, when Evra’s cross was met superbly by Scholes and the header was too well placed for Given to reach it in the end, and the whole United squad and fans present in the City of Manchester stadium started celebrating as if they won a final 😉
