Wayne Rooney’s brilliant bicycle kick kept United’s title dreams alive, and showed neighbors Man City which team still rules in Manchester 🙂 as United claimed the win in the Manchester derby.
It was not an easy game for the Red Devils, but they managed to eventually see off the Citizens, but still lot of work needed I believe in the midfield, with may be some new signings to reinforce the team for next season.
Both teams started rather well, with United winning a corner in the first minute while Silva missed a chance at the other. Hart was called into action a couple of times as United pressed on, while City as well built at the other end, but it was United which found the net first, as a long clearance from Van Der Sar was helped on by Rooney to Giggs, the latter finding Nani with a brilliant pass, and Nani slotted past Hart to give United the lead on the 41st minute.
The second half saw City came all guns blazing, as they pegged United back, and eventually Silva found the net on the 65th minute, although a lucky goal, as Dzeko’s shot flicked off his back to wrong foot Van Der Sar for the equalizer. City looked to press on as may be some doubts crept in the United camp, but finally Rooney settled matters on the 78th minute, as he produced a true masterpiece, a bicycle kick from Nani’s cross from 12 yards, to seal victory, and keep United a safe distance from the pursuers.
