Manchester United DHL Tour 2012 – Match 4 review

Manchester United continued their pre-season friendlies earlier today in Oslo Norway, as the Red Devils were up against Valerenga, but despite sending out a rather strong team, the match ended goalless. United had several first team players back in action, with the likes of Nani, Rooney, Welbeck, Young, Carrick amongst others, but the most awaited comeback was that of Vidic, who was back following his injury which saw him miss several months of action with the team. Sir Alex however was missing for this game as the gaffer stayed in Manchester (may be a possible transfer deal going on 😀 ), while Evra returned home with his wife due to give birth soon. Valerenga created the first opportunity of the game, but most of the game was played in their own half with Scholes being the midfield maestro for United while Welbeck proved to be a nuisance for the opposition, but failed in the end to score. Young, Scholes and Rooney also had their chances, likewise for Chicharito who came on as a sub, but alas! they were unfortunate not find the net, but it was a positive build-up game overall given many of these players were not involved in the previous friendlies at all.

The next match will now see United face their sworn European “enemies”, Barcelona, as the two teams clash on 8th August to spice up this pre-season tour in Sweden.

United Line-up:

Lindegaard; Valencia, Vidic (Anderson 61), Ferdinand, M Keane; Nani, Carrick, Scholes (Powell 75), Young (Lingard 75); Rooney (Chicharito 76), Welbeck (Kagawa 61).

Subs not used: De Gea, Jones, Berbatov, Macheda.
