Ballon d’Or: Lionel Messi playing in a league of his own


Lionel Messi bagged his 4th Ballon d’Or in a row some minutes earlier today in Zurich, as the Argentinian striker pipped team-mate Iniesta and eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo for the much awaited award in football. USA striker, Abby Wambach, won the female award in the same ceremony, while the best goal, FIFA Puskas award, went to Miroslav Stoch, and finally the best manager award went to Vicente Del Bosque for winning the Euro with Spain.

Also selected was the best 11 players for 2012, the FIFPRO XI award, where not one single English player featured in the list, nor anyone from an EPL club, with the list as follows:
