Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial match last night at Old Trafford promised to be a party night for the fans and new manager Moyes for his first game in charge at OT, but it somehow ended in a horror show, as visiting team Sevilla “slaughtered” the Red Devils with a 1-3 final score. The crowd turned out to cheer on Rio on the night, while Moyes rang some changes to the squad with Henriquez and Januzaj running the front line for United. However it was the visitors who took the game in their hands, and pour some cold water on the crowd as they took a 0-2 lead quickly, with Vitolo first finding the net on 21st minute, followed by Marin, on loan from Chelsea, on the 25th minute, to give Sevilla a deserved lead at half-time.
United tried to hit back in the second half, with Valencia eventually finding the net on the 64th minute, but they failed to find the equalizer and instead it was Sevilla which went on to score a third goal in added time through Rabello. United have to move on quickly from this defeat and focus on tomorrow’s game against Wigan if they want to get their first trophy of the season, as they have really failed to impress during their tour games, and must make a positive impact for the start of the season, else see themselves overtaken by the likes of Chelsea and Man City in the quest for the EPL title, as these teams have brought in reinforcements and are ready to battle out their rivals.
