Marouane Fellaini last night officially signed for Manchester United from Everton, after supposedly handing in a transfer request to his former club to join Moyes at United. Fellaini, however, was already a Red Devil at heart, since it is the nickname given to Belgium’s national team 😈
The fee is being reported around £27.5M, with however, Moyes missing on another Everton player, Baines, whom he valued at around £15M while Everton were looking for about £20M. Other failures of the night include attempts to bring in Herrera from Bilbao, while also news of Coentrao’s loan bid not being accepted as United tried to lure the left back after failing with Baines, but some doubts still persist here, as reports state a final decision will be announced today. It does seem however that United will try sign Herrera again in January, but let’s hope it’s not Ed Woodward who does the transfer business again, he really messed up things for this time, and many fans are demanding his resignation, and calling for David Gill.
Many have considered this move for Fellaini as a desperate attempt on Moyes’ behalf to sign a player, since Fabregas, De Rossi and Thiago all refused to come to United, and it does seem true in a sense, as had Fellaini not handed in a transfer request and Everton not signed McCarthy from Wigan, this deal as well would have been a failure, and United would have ended with only Varela being the signing made when the transition was made from SAF to Moyes.
