Timid win for Manchester United over Crystal Palace

MUFC-PalaceWhile Sir Alex made his return to Old Trafford as a spectator this time, RvP and Rooney gave Moyes his first win at home, as United rather timidly it has to be said, won 2-0 over Crystal Palace. The match lacked some real action until RvP tried a cheeky back-heel towards goal after the half-hour mark, and then struck the bar after Rooney had found him with a beautiful cross. United broke the deadlock in added time of the first half, although controversially, as the foul on Young seemed outside the box, but the ref pointed to the penalty spot instead, and even sent off Dikgacoi for Palace in the process, as he was the one who went on for the “foul”, knowing Young’s diving reputation. RvP calmly slotted the resulting penalty, giving United the lead at half-time. Although the opposition was down to 10 men, United did not make the most out of it for more goals, but eventually the second goal came from yet another set-piece, this time a free-kick won by Januzaj, which Rooney struck beautifully past the keeper on the 81st minute to finally secure the win.
