Eto’o haunts Manchester United

samueletoocelebhattrickgoalvmufcfansagain20140119_576x324Manchester United continued on their poor form, as the Red Devils crumbled at Stamford Bridge earlier today, with a rejuvenated Samuel Eto’o scoring a hat-trick for the Blues, and sinking the Red Devils some more into what seems like an abyss with no return. Eto’o found the net on the 17th minute, as his shot took a deflection off Carrick to loop over De Gea for the opener, and despite United taking possession of the ball, it was only Januzaj who was being more creative for the men in red, and United got caught again just before half-time, as Eto’o struck again to double Chelsea’s lead. The second half had barely started when Eto’o for the third time found the way to the back of the net, sending some more gloom on United. As Chelsea looked to hold on to the 3-goal lead, Chicharito finally managed to get one back for United on the 78th minute as he slid in to poke Jones’ mishit shot into the net. But United were too below-par to stage a comeback, and Chelsea held on. The frustration could be sensed on behalf of the Red Devils, as Vidic in added time saw red for an unnecessary tackle from behind on Hazard, while Rafael as well could have been sent off for a two-footed challenge on Cahill, but the ref took pity on the losing side it seemed and instead gave him a yellow. United remain 7th in the league table, but they can slump further down should the team fail to produce some positive results soon as the number of games keeps decreasing.
