FA Cup: Arsenal end their trophy drought

ArsenalFACup2014After 9 years of torture for the fans and staff alike, Arsenal finally managed to break the curse and lift a silverware, but were forced to push beyond their limits by a resilient Hull City team. Chester and Davies however gave Arsenal a big scare, as Hull led 0-2 in 8 minutes only, but Cazorla gave Arsenal some hope through a freekick on the 17th minute, and as Hull tried to content themselves with the lead, Arsenal kept the pressure on them, and were rewarded on the 71st minute, when Koscielny saw the ball drop to him after a defensive mix-up following a corner kick, and he managed to scramble it past the keeper, injuring himself in the process, but not too seriously, and taking the match to extra-time at 2-2. As the tension mounted for both sides, it was Ramsey who eventually delivered the fatal blow to Hull on the 108th minute, as he lashed onto Giroud’s backheeled pass to send the Arsenal bench in ecstasy, likewise for the fans. Aluko could have equalized in the dying minutes, but seemed too greedy in the end as he tried to send the ball in from a very tight angle when he could have passed it to two teammates rushing on in the box. Wenger and Co. looked very relieved after the final whistle of extra-time, and surely he’s going to sign the new deal now.
