The match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona took place last night, where despite a tentative start from the Red Devils, where they could have been 2-goals down in the opening 5 minutes itself, they managed to eventually end up 3-1 winners over the Spanish side. Suarez and Sergio Roberto should have made it 0-2 in the first five minutes, but the former saw his free-kick hit the post with De Gea, still courted by Real Madrid, well beaten, while Roberto was denied by the latter in a one-on-one situation. United however found the net on the 8th minute, as Rooney rose to head in Young’s corner-kick, and as both teams battled on, Rooney then Young had chances to double the lead, but were kept at bay, while at the other end Suarez again had chances near the end of the first half, but again saw the post denying him and Pedro saw his shot saved as well.
Half time was well deserved for these two sides, and the second half saw FC Barcelona make a couple of changes, and Suarez thought he had levelled the score the on the 61st minute, only to be ruled out for an offside position. United then proceeded to change all 11 players, with the youngsters being given their chance as well, and Lingard did not have to wait long to find himself on the scoresheet, as he tucked in Blackett’s cross on the far post on the 65th minute to double United’s advantage. Januzaj should have made it 3-0 minutes later, but shot wide. At the other end, El Haddadi was denied by the post yet again as FCB looked to get back in the game, and eventually on the 90th minute Rafinha found the net with a brilliant left-footed volley past Johnstone, but United restored the 2-goal lead through Januzaj as he turned past Bartra after collecting a pass from Lingard, and firing home United’s third of the night. Final tour game will be against PSG on the 30th of July, and reports are that Di Maria will be joining the French outfit soon.
