It looks as if LVG is preparing for life after De Gea’s possible departure to Real Madrid, as the Red Devils last night officially signed Argentina international goalkeeper, 28-year old Sergio Romero, for a three-year deal, with an optional year of extension. Romero and LVG are not strangers to each other, as the pair were together at AZ Alkmaar between 2007 and 2009. Of course De Gea’s transfer saga is still on, but who knows may be he can stay for another season should Real Madrid and Manchester United not agree on fees, and in this case, it will be more likely that Romero will be the substitute keeper, replacing Valdes who’s had some arguments recently with the manager, and could leave on loan to another club.
I am absolutely delighted to join Manchester United. To play for the biggest club in the world is a dream come true for me. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic manager and I cannot wait to get started on this new and exciting challenge in my career.
