The Red Devils gave themselves some scares today, but eventually managed to claim their first win since November 2015, by seeing off Swansea on a 2-1 scoreline at Old Trafford, easing off some pressure off LVG in the process. LVG has lost his last 3 encounters against the Swans, but today things looked different as from kickoff, as the Red Devils dominated the early stages of the game, but still, gave themselves a first scare when Schneiderlin saw the ball hit his hand as he attempted to clear acrobatically in the box, but no penalty was awarded by the referee.
United had to wait for the second half thou to finally find the net, as Young delivered a very good cross in the box, and Martial headed in the opener on the 47th minute. Swansea however did not give up, and came roaring back in the game, as Ayew saw his header hit the post, but minutes later Sigurdsson equalized for them on the 70th minute as he looped in a header past De Gea. United had the last say today thou, as 7 minutes later Rooney applied a clever flicked to finish off Martial’s pass, but had to withhold waves of attack from the Swans, as Williams forced De Gea into a diving save, then in a last gasp corner kick, goalkeeper Fabianski saw his header flash just wide of De Gea’s left post as Swansea tried to leave Manchester with at least a point, but in the end United held on to end the winless run and start 2016 on a good note.
