José Mourinho started life with the Red Devils in the best way possible, that is with a win at the DW Stadium against Wigan. Many of the big name players, including new signing Zlatan were missing on the team sheet, but Mkhitaryan and Bailly were handed their maiden game in England and both looked very solid, with Mourinho then proceeding with changing his starting 11 as the game wore on. Will Keane became the first scorer under Mourinho’s reign as the match lit up during the second half with his goal arriving on the 49th minute. Mata, introduced at half-time, intercepted a poor clearance from Wigan’s keeper, and teed up the youngster for the opener. He was shortly followed on the score-sheet by Andreas Pereira in the 58th minute after a well-worked set-piece on the edge of the box. United were not really troubled by Wigan at the other end, and kept a clean-sheet as Mourinho gets to taste his first win with the Red Devils.
United’s Tour 2016 starts officially on the 22nd of July, as they will meet Borussia Dortmund in China, followed by a passionate encounter with the noisy neighbours and their new manager Guardiola on the 25th still in China, before eventually moving to Sweden to face Galatasaray on 30th of July to end the tour.
