Red Devils off to a flying start

Manchester United were off to a brilliant start for the season 2017-2018 as they ripped West Ham apart with some great attacking display from Rashford, Lukaku, Martial, Pogba and Mkhitaryan to end up 4-0 winners.

The Red Devils and the Hammers were head-to-head for the first 30 minutes of the game although United were in a more offensive mode with Rashford making countless runs on his side while all the others looked composed as well, and were rewarded on the 33rd minute when Matic claimed the ball to feed Rashford and the latter released Lukaku to thump home the opener via the right post of Hart. United however did not add more before half time while the Hammers ended on a high note as Fernandes had a shot saved by De Gea in added time.

After a very good first half from the Red Devils, a better second half was expected. Rashford was up to the task again as he was making life a hell to Zabaleta and he nearly added a second but his shot flew wide. United were 2-0 up however on the 53rd minute. De Gea collected a cross before releasing Rashford and the latter again flew down the other end only for Zabaleta to foul him. Mkhitaryan took the resulting freekick and Lukaku headed in his second of the game. United had a comfortable lead in hand but personally I wanted a couple of more goals. Blind went close with a rasping volley that just cleared the bar. While it felt like 2-0 would be the final score, in came Martial and he delivered the killer blow on the 88th minute as Mkhitaryan found him in the box and he finished with a low strike past Hart. Martial turned to provider a couple of minutes later as he set up Pogba and the latter curled in a beauty past Hart to complete the rout.

United were really up to the task today although West Ham failed to pose any real threat in the end, with Chicharito subdued by both Bailly and Jones, while the Red Devils themselves clicked really well. Let’s hope they build up on the first win of the season and provide a real challenge for the title this season.
