Red Devils down the Gunners

After a win against Brighton last weekend followed by a nervy win against Watford last Tuesday, the Red Devils fought valiantly against the Gunners today at the Emirates Stadium, and with an inspired De Gea and Lingard, they returned back home with all 3 points in the bag.

As from kick off the tone was set as both teams went on head to head, with United however having slightly the upper hand in the play and were rewarded on the 4th minute as Valencia intercepted loose pass to feed Pogba, and the latter played the ball back to the former in the box to thread the ball between the legs of Cech for the opener. United kept on the pressure and were again rewarded when on the 11th minute Lingard found the net after again pressing high to deny Arsenal a clear chance to clear from the back. Lingard stole the ball to find Lukaku, who fed the ball to Martial. The latter served Lingard with an exquisite pass from the outside of his right boot while on the turn and Lingard slotted home the second. From thereon however began the De Gea show. Arsenal upped the tempo to push the Red Devils back, and De Gea had to deploy himself several times to keep out the Gunners, and at one time Lukaku went close for an own goal but the keeper was up to the task to deny his own teammate. Lukaku was a big disappointment in the whole match and am still thinking why Mourinho is sticking with him upfront.

After the exploits of the first half, De Gea could do nothing thou to deny Lacazette after being left down by all his teammates on the 48th minute. Arsenal were threatening to equalize but United on yet another break on the 63rd minute dealt Arsenal with another blow. Lingard led the counter, and after a one-two with Pogba, scored into an empty net. Pogba however was shown a red card minutes later following a foul on Bellerin. De Gea continued his show as Arsenal increased the pressure on the 10 men Red Devils but the latter held on for a vital win.
