England messed up again against Italy in the Euro 2020 finals despite playing on home ground and scoring first. They failed to rise to the occasion and were punished in the penalty shootout session, where it is a pity to say, but one United player and one future United player missed their penalties. The trophy is now going to Rome.
Shaw scored early on with a brilliant volley to give England the lead, but from thereon they just failed to create any meaningful chance and in the second half Italy got back as Bonucci scored to level the score. Italy were more threatening despite the match going into extra-time. Rashford and Sancho came on in the last minutes and both failed to score from the shootout, with Saka also missing, and despite Pickford saving two, England were out on a 3-2 scoreline in the shootout exercise. More time for it to come home in the end… ⚽️
