Ten-men Liverpool gave Man Utd a good fight, but had to bow down to defeat eventually, as they could not overturn Mata’s brace, and even had Gerrard sent off with only 40s on the field in the second half. Mata gave United a deserved lead on the 14th minute as he was fed thru brilliantly by Herrera, and United kept their grip till half-time, with Liverpool rarely posing problems to the backline. Brendan Rodgers decided to send on Gerrard for the second half, but his plan backfired quickly, as the latter picked up a red card few seconds later, for an unnecessary stamp on Herrera. Yet, Liverpool did not lose hope and matched United pace to pace as the half went on, but United scored again on the 59th minute, with Mata finishing off in acrobatic style Di Maria’s pass to him. Liverpool eventually got one back on the 69th minute as Sturridge found the net from a very acute angle, but United could have scored a third in the final minutes, as Blind was bundled over in the box, but Rooney saw his penalty kick saved by Mignolet, adding some more disappointment for him, given he failed to really make an impact in this game today.
This win however is the perfect gift for me, having celebrated my birthday only yesterday, and let’s hope United keep up with the good run and finish in the CL spot which they are chasing.
Mata was awesome… 😀
Jai Mata Di!

Indeed, but he’s not a consistent player, just like Nani, where they can be awesome in one match, and clueless for the next 2.
